Shit People Tell You When You're Still Single at 30's

1.  You're beautiful, smart, and sexy!  You're such a good catch!

     - I know right.  That's why men are intimidated by me!

2.  You have a great job.  You're stable enough to get married.

     - But my job can't still afford me to have breakfast in Japan, lunch in America, and dinner in France!

3.  You're too picky!

     - So I would just pick some random guys who are not in my level?

4.  You're just too busy!

     - Well, I want to occupy all my time to let me forget that I'm still single.

5.  You should try online dating.  You have exotic beauty foreigners love.

     - It's never my thing to talk with real strangers!

6.  At a wedding:  "Hey, single lady!  Join the bouquet toss!"

     - And just be laughed over by a whole barrage of spectators?  Never mind!

7.  Aren't you worried you won't be able to have kids?

     - If only I can afford to lose my virginity to someone whom I truly love.....

8.  Don't you ever get lonely?

     - Of course!  Walking home from school every night at 7 PM all by myself, going to a party without a date when others are coupling, seeing the beauty of the world without someone to share it with, etcetera, etcetera!  Like, fuck!

Got the picture?

However, there are still truth people tell you when you're looking and feeling young in your 30's:

1.  Goodness gracious!  You're 31?!  You still look like god-damn 25!
2.  Guard at school:  "Sorry, Ma'am.  It's just that, you still look like a freshman."

29/31 by Garfunkel and Oates

What a totally hilarious song!  But mind you, it speaks right to us ladies who are now in our thirties!  Be mad, be angry, be sad!  Shout out loud to release the fuckin' negativities inside!  For thirty-something ladies out there, this song is for you!

Girl Power Spells F-I-G-H-T-I-N-G for Sanity!

"It is hard to be a woman.
You must think like a man,
Act like a lady,
Look like a young girl,
And work like a horse."
- Anonymous

Then there are no other women who can portray these roles than the Sex and the City girls, Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda!  I just oh-so miss these crazy girl friends!  You might be thinking that this is such a major throwback.  Well, hell yeah! Somebody had already told me that I am just so 90's.  I don't care!  I love them and I miss the series!  And to unwind from this crazy day, let me share to you the full trailers of their two movies from way, way back.

"Life doesn't always turn out to be your fantasy.  That's why you need friendships that are real to get you through it all!"
- Carrie

"We made a deal ages ago - man, babies, doesn't matter.  We're soulmates!"
- Samantha

Then, keeping in touch with my own girl friends is such a breather to everyday madness!  Friends do come and go but there are those who remain true to you no matter what.  From high school to infinity, we stay the same CHOGS for life!

Now, be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says, "Oh, crap.  She's up!"

That September Feeling

It's indeed -ber month with all the balloon orders we've got this week!  When fourth quarter of the year strikes, it means that businesses are doubly hellish!  I'm getting excited with it and I wanna celebrate!  So what story can I write about this?  Should I make a statistics out from it?  That would be boring.....I'm not that business kind of person as you might be surprised knowing this.  Hehe....However, I still have that high energy to write tonight.  I must write something but I just couldn't think of a story.....

However, lonesome September gets into my nerve again!  I'm being reminded of these screen shots (that I've been keeping) of a probable story.  Here they are:

Anyari?!  Senti lang ang peg?  It's supposed to be a celebration but look at that!  I already promised not to write nega things here (reiterate lang po para klaro).  Oh, I should not post this!  However, I have to......

In this time that I don't have people to call true friends, I have no one to talk to.  In this time that I'm doubting who my true friends are, I have no one to rely on.  So I just have to write my heart out.  Wala namang bumabasa 'eh!  So here's the deal.  If you've come to stumble upon this post, patatawarin po.....

Anyway, this was just one heck of a life!  One heck of a story!  Years had passed and it's still him.  Now I'm starting to hate myself.  Why could I just not forget him?!  I thought I'm done writing about him here.  I thought I'm done letting go of him with a song.  I thought I'm done with him in this post.  There must be something wrong with me!  I must be sick!!!!!  I must be gaga!

Lines from Starting Over Again
But I can't help it.  Do I need professional help?  Do I need a shrink?  I think I'm dispersing down my wits.  I am just so pathetic!  He had already taken away my years with him.  I've been lost since I lost him.  I have not been living since he left.  Does loving only come once in our lives?  That once you break it, you can never make it again?  Then I'm reminded of the movie which put me into buckets of tears months ago.  I haven't written about it for months because I want my post on it to be something special.  It's none other than KathNiel's She's Dating the Gangster.  It's a movie of pure great love!  It's a movie which I can again relate with.  And now's the time to write about it because of this "special" September feeling I have.

Just like young Athena's line,

"Thank you for the 2 months, 2 weeks, 3 days, 10 hours, 57 minutes na pagmamahal."

it was brief but timeless.

Also young Athena's line,

"Gusto ko nang itigil ito kasi nagiging totoo na..... Totoong nagugustohan na kita."

it was shallow but meaningful.

And Kelay's line,

"Ang love story daw nila ay isang malaking kaso ng bad timing."

it was wrong but worth it all.

Finally as the movie ends with adult Athena's line,

"After years of waiting, seeing what you've become now - .....  It was all worth it."

Would he still be worth it?  Can I still do this?

Is he the only one?  Is he the only one great love?  Can I still have him beside me on my last breath?

Surely, that can't be answered yet.  With all this weirdness, I think I must just sleep!  As if I can sleep!

DIY Christmas Deco

Though September 1st came to be bad, I'd like to have a counterattack to that bad luck!  So here's a post of happy, happy, happy, joy, joy, joy!  :)

It is now the 3rd of September and it's already starting to get chilly.  Christmas is fast approaching!!!!!  So this post is dedicated to all things Christmasy!

In today's stressful world, we find ways to release that tension from our body.  There are a lot of destressing methods like sports, yoga, food tripping, listening to good music, and learning arts and crafts.  And what's in the fad today is the do-it-yourself thingy.  DIY's are really "in" these days which I'm already getting fond of.

So for this upcoming holiday season, there's no harm in getting your hands on some DIY-ing.  It's so fulfilling to do things on our own.  Now here are some photos I grabbed from Pinterest to guide you in making your very own Christmas deco!

Now, gather up your peers and have fun DIY-ing together!  'Tis the season to be jolly and 'tis the season of sharing some quality time with the ones you love!

P.S.  In making your DIY Christmas deco, also take into consideration to REUSE, REDUCE, and RECYCLE.  Remember, there's money in the garbage and you'll also be saving Mother Earth in that account!  :)

Monday Matters: Beware of Phishing Websites!

Monday Matters is dedicated to all things that matter.

It's September 1 and what a sad news to start the -BER months!  I got a call from a bank around 9 o'clock this morning asking me when did I have my last transaction with them.  I answered last April only to find out that I have withdrawals from June to September 1, today which I never did and have knowledge of.  I immediately went to their branch here in Ozamiz and got a hard copy of my bank statement.  Indeed, I had withdrawals using this VISA card from Hong Kong, Mexico, London, etc.!  As if I had gone to those places except Hong Kong.

I was so disheartened knowing about this because that was hard-earned money! Though it may seem a little amount for some people, it is big enough for me.  Like, hello!  I was working my butt off to earn that!  Anyway, I would like to warn you about these phishing websites which are fishing private account information from innocent victims like me.

What is phishing?

Phishing refers to the activity of defrauding an online account holder of financial information by posing as a legitimate company. (Google Dictionary) Phishing websites mimic authentic websites of a bank, using a bank's name and logo to trick clients into entering their user ID's, passwords, and other confidential information.  Once these are captured, syndicates can then use an individual's bank account for their own benefit.

How to identify phishing websites?

Phishing websites are cleverly constructed to really look like a company's real site.  To be safe, check the web address by looking in your browser's URL bar.  Phishing sites change a company's name by subtly misspelling the address.  For example, www.paypal.com.  For a phishing site, it would be www.paypa1.com.  See?  The l is being replaced with 1 that would come unnoticeable.

How to do away with phishing websites?

Use a browser that has anti-phishing detection like the latest version of Internet Explorer or Netscape browsers.  The free add-ons (or plug-ins) can help you detect phishing sites.

Surely, technology today makes our life easier.  Online banking, online shopping, online transfer of money, etc. are just so convenient but this online thingy also comes with big disadvantage.  Since we could not trace these hackers, scammers, and syndicates, we ourselves have to be vigilant.  Just like me, I am a victim out of my ignorance.  But it takes an experience to give a person a lesson, right?  So, I'm sharing this post to all of you, my readers so this will not also happen to you.  Just be safe in all your online dealings.

Katutubong Kasuotan Then and Now

In celebration of Buwan ng Wika, La Salle University had decreed a Katutubong Kasuotan Day a few years back.  Since I failed to post a story on this last year, I'd like to take this opportunity to post one now before the month-long celebration ends.

So here's my first ever photo with my Lasallian students.  They were my Physics 1 laboratory class, 1st sem of SY 2013-2014.  They are IT students who don't like physics and just want to create programs instead.

The next photo is the class wherein I had my first ever class observation by a seasoned teacher before PAASCU inspection last year.  My students were only a few that I didn't have any problem with classroom management.

To end that day of last year, here's my night class wherein I had my first (and hopefully last) ghost encounter in La Salle.  I nearly fainted at that time!

And now, here's my new batch of IT students.  They are still very kulit like high school kids!  I could say that they are having that identity crisis wherein they are confused whether they are still kids or already grown-ups.  They goof around during lab time especially Roy!  This group is just so hilarious!

Last but not least, here's my all-girls Physics class.  They are education students whom I could consider the class that has the biggest improvement in dealing with Physics.  Looking back last prelim, they were sooooo l-o-a-d-i-n-g.  But now, we can connect easily like bluetooth and are already on the same page!

Occasions as rare as this gives us the opportunity to take photos.  Isn't it great that once in a year, we're gonna pay tribute to our nationality?  Through this, we are teaching our children the value of patriotism.  Wearing our katutubong kasuotan enables us to feel the true heart of being a Filipino.

But I wonder what I'm gonna wear next year.....

2013 and 2014 OOTD
I never thought I'd be wearing these costumes from a long time ago! Left was worn last 2003 for a chorale compet which our college won 2nd place and right was last 2004 for folk dance which we also won 1st place! Then I was never a total geek in college after all....

Squeeze that Cheez

And my favorite spread in the world got its new packaging!  Presenting to you, easy squeeze packs from Cheez Whiz!!!  It is now so handy to bring cheesiness around.  If you're going to a picnic, this is now the perfect baon as sandwich spread, dip to chips, topping to other dishes, or viand itself paired with rice as I'm fond of having.

In the same way as Eden Cheese, Cheez Whiz is also loaded with minerals, vitamins, and proteins as I've written here.  It also comes in pimiento variant for that different kind of twist.

Aside from the easy squeeze packs, Cheez Whiz is now also available in sachets which makes it so affordable to all moms on a budget!  So for moms out there, give your children their daily calcium needs in a delicious way.  Sneak in Cheez Whiz sachets inside their bags for them to enjoy a Cheez Whiz merienda at school!  And if you want to experiment on Cheez Whiz, visit their website here for fun recipes of this oh-so yummy cheesy goodness.
