Whimsical Wednesday: My MK Loots

Whimsical Wednesday shows my fancy in a myriad of beautiful things.

New school, new environment, new colleagues, new students - these are the new changes in my life for the past two weeks now which are making me more excited and thrilled each day!  And as I've come to meet new people, I just couldn't get away from some "about me" queries and one thing that I end up with is the question of AGE.  Not that I'm too conscious about it but I come to deal with it since the other newbies are still playing around 21-23 years young!  And by the time I divulge my age, they never believe me until I tell them where I had been through all these years.

So what's it to me that I still look twenty something to them?  Even my students before treated me as one of their peers for I still look as young as them!  Well the secret is, maintaining a youthful mind and a youthful heart.  Truly, only the physical being ages but never the state of mind and the state of heart.  As for me, positivism is the key!  With good vibes, we're all gonna be having happy lives thus maintaining our youthful beauty.

However, physical appearance does change as what I've said.  It's a fact that from baby smooth skin, we're all gonna get wrinkles.  From shiny black hair, we're all gonna get grey ones.  And from straight posture, we're all gonna have a humped back.  So as a not-getting-any-younger gal, it's about time for me to take care of my health properly.  And getting healthy starts with eating a balanced diet, drinking two glasses of milk daily, and resorting into proper skin care.

With that in mind, I am so glad that there's this unique line of skin care regimen that perfectly suits my age.  It cleanses, nourishes, moisturizes, and protects which makes it an all-in-one solution to my skin care needs.  It slows down signs of skin aging like fine lines, wrinkles, and freckles.  It is none other than the Timewise set of Mary Kay.
Mary Kay Timewise Set
Mary Kay Bath Soap, Day Serum, Night Serum, 3-in-1 Cleanser, Moisturizer, Liquid Foundation
Aside from the basic skin care products, Mary Kay also has an elegant line of cosmetics.  They say that putting on make-up would make you age fast but using the right products would never allow that to happen to you.  So Mary Kay had included cosmetics for all the ladies out there who are obliged to wear make-up in their line of work.
Mary Kay Lipstick Tester, Blush-On, and Nail Polish
With these Mary Kay loots, I am sure enough that I'm gonna preserve my youthful glow.  And by this time, I will now stop telling my age since
"A woman who will tell her age will tell anything." - Mary Kay Ash
10 Years in the Making:  5 career shifts, 4 relocations, 3 funny flings, 2 miserable heartbreaks

Summer Vacation Bible School Recognition and Closing Ceremony 2013

L & L Olandesca Compound in cooperation with Ozamis Bethel Baptist Church held its Summer Vacation Bible School Recognition and Closing Ceremony 2013 last June 9, 2013 at L & L Olandesca Compound.  As you may recall, the Bible classes started on Papa's 62nd birthday last March 18, 2013 spearheaded by Pastor Joe of the said church.  With the sponsorship of Auntie Bebot, the Bible classes continued every Sunday afternoon for the whole summer vacation last April and May.
Our neighborhood kids learned a lot from the teachings of the Bible taught by Pastor Joe's wife, Ate Dianne and other Sunday school teachers who were professionally trained to teach children.  Aside from Bible story telling, the kids also learned some Christian action songs which they presented during the ceremony.  To top it all, they memorized some verses from the Bible which they also recited on their recognition day.
Proud parents also graced the occasion wherein they were given the honor to pin the ribbons of their children.  The kids were each given certificate of recognition and the outstanding ones were given meritorious awards.  And as a reward to everybody, some school supplies were also given for the start of the school year 2013-2014.
Now here are our most outstanding pupils who were awarded third honors, second honors, and first honors from left to right accordingly:
Jerry, Princess, and May2x
And any ceremony won't be complete without the fellowship.  So Kuya Aison and Tita Rio, bring on the snacks please!
Thank you, Dr. Manlegro for the Ice Cream! :)
Truly, in everything that God has started, He will finish.  With the effort and ministry of Pastor Joe, Ate Dianne, Papa, and Auntie Bebot, the summer vacation Bible school of our neighborhood kids has been completed with the purpose of instilling Jesus in the hearts of these kids.  Hopefully, the teachings would be engraved in their hearts forever as what I did from the daily vacation Bible school I had when I was still a kid.
For the kids' formative years, include Jesus' teachings so they may grow up into God-fearing individuals.  See you next summer, neighborhood kids! :)

Life is Full of Surprises!!! :)

Finally, I'm free!!!  I already have my replacement as Chemistry instructor at Medina College and I am now officially teaching at La Salle University!  This is a bigger challenge, a wider world, and a richer experience to me because I am rediscovering Physics!  Naks naman!  Physics naman ang pagkakaabalahan ko ngayon!  So I summon the spirits of Sir Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein to guide me in this new endeavor.  Hopefully, I can serve La Salle University better than what I had did with my previous employers, Misamis Union High School and Medina College.  I'm now off to be more serious and more awesome in my teaching career!  Weehhh!!!  :)

Araw ng Kalayaan: Literally, I Need Freedom!!!

Today is the 115th year of Philippine independence from her conquistadores in the person of the Spaniards.  Thanks to all our Philippine heroes who had given us liberty from the hands of these foreign subjugators.

Independence Day for today in my life could have been a very memorable one if I had found somebody to replace me in my post as Chemistry Laboratory Technician/Admission Officer/Chemistry Instructor at Medina College.  Why am I so unjust in abandoning my post since classes already started last Monday?  It is because God works in mysterious yet funny ways!  I was just about to enroll at La Salle University for graduate studies when what I got there was a teaching job! So instead of getting enrolled, I got hired yesterday!  I was so happy by getting in on my very own way but my happiness is not yet full blast until now since I am still employed at Medina College.

Now the challenge is to get a replacement for me who is as smart as me, as charming as me, and as hard-working as me!  And how in the world could I find somebody like me???!!!  Nag-iisa lang 'ata ang Miss Mae na kinagigiliwan ng lahat noh!!!  But seriously, I really really really need to be released from Medina ASAP!!!  "Please release me let me go" ang peg ko ngayon!!!

So, ako po ay nananawagan sa lahat ng mga tao dyan na may kakilala na BS Chemistry or BS Chemical Engineering graduate.  Utang na loob!!!!  Pakitulungan nyo naman po ako.  This is truly my plead now and hoping against hope that I can find you, Miss Mae #2.  If you're a male, you are also welcome to apply ha.  Kaya, text na in this number 09306350290.  Hoping forward for your cooperation and your help will be very much appreciated and honored.

Hopefully, I will have my Araw ng Kalayaan at the soonest possible time.  Kalayaan!  Kalayaan!  Kalayaan!!!!

Feature Friday: Lala's Eco Park

Feature Friday highlights businesses, people, fashion, and basically anything under the sun!

Ozamis City:  a small ghost town
Ozamis City:  a third-class city
Ozamis City:  the dirtiest city

No matter how people look down on Ozamis, it is still my birth place.  No matter how other Ozamisnons who had migrated abroad or just around the Philippine metropolis disdain Ozamis, it is still my home town.  And no matter how current Ozamisnons push me to go out from Ozamis, I still stay here because I love being here!  So, kebs nalang sa inyong lahat dyan!

Anyway, I'm writing this out because I have something new to rave about to you!  Just a few minutes drive from Ozamis' city proper is a paradise where you can be one with nature.  It is a place of zen which offers tranquility at its best.  It is none other than the newest and freshest tourist spot (thank God, there's another tourist spot in Ozamis!) in town - Lala's Eco Park!
In a city where progress is as slow as a snail, I am so glad that former DepEd schools superintendent, Dr. Priscilla Villanueva had opened her sprawling property to the public.  This picturesque property is located at Brgy. Stimson Abordo, Montol, Ozamis City.  Yes, it is the mountainous area outskirt Ozamis where some parts of the road are rough but the scenic drive is beyond what I had expected.  By the end of the journey, my family and I were rewarded by fresh air and all greens pleasing to the eyes!  Aside from that, the untouched wilderness is also dotted with pretty and colorful flowers beautifully landscaped to give everyone the warmest welcome.
With a hundred steps downhill, one can truly experience the beauty the eco park's natural view has to offer.  Anyone cannot get tired in walking down the trail since God's wonderful creation is being revealed every step of the way!  And the final destination - a resort with two pools of natural spring water.  I couldn't wait to jump into the pool even though the sun was up for it is so inviting to anyone who just had a long walk.  Truly, I wasn't frustrated with the outcome because the water is so cool and so clean that you can enjoy swimming without worrying of itchiness public pools bring.
Though public, Lala's Eco Park has a heart for privacy.  It is a place where you can bond with your family without interruptions.  Adults and youngsters alike can definitely enjoy the calmness and serenity the place offers.  It is absolutely a haven for anyone who wishes to take a break from everyday's stressors of city life.
Alongside, there is also another facility of Lala's Eco Park which is the pasalubong center.  This center is so unique for they give tribute to the roots of Ozamisnons who are the Subanens. They showcase genuine Subanen products which designs are ethnic yet modern.  One that struck me most are the face blings which look like miniature Aztec masks which are a hit nowadays in the world of fashion by the way.
Indeed, our Lala's Eco Park adventure was one which enabled us to reconnect with Ozamis.  So come and experience all the goodness nature has to offer in this hidden gem of the city.  Discover Ozamis and be proud of what it still has to give!
Thank you to the kind staff of Lala's Eco Park! :)

When Their Success Becomes Also My Success

Teaching for quiet sometime now had given me my ups and downs.  It has been a roller coaster ride to me - being mad, being happy, being annoyed, being playful, and being exasperated with students!  But as I go along the way in this career, there are also surprises which keep me going.

Surprise #1  My Forever Junior Griffins Visitation

My junior griffins haven't failed visiting me each break from their schooling in other places since their graduation in high school.  They really take time in seeing me even just for a while for some small talk, kulit bonding moments, and picture-taking.  I was so glad that this summer break, Sylvianne and Anwyl surprisingly popped out at my hub in Medina College last Thursday! :)  They had grown up so fast that they will be in their third year of college studies this month.  It is so amazing for me as their third year high school adviser seeing them matured a bit and serious with their studies.  Sa ngayon palang, I already smell success for the both of them!

Surprise #2  My Pharmacy Students' Culmination in Their Pharmacying Duties

Since the first batch of college students I had taught in Medina already graduated last March, my first batch of all-girl class also finished their very long hours of pharmacying duties.  It was so great bumping into a few of them at Rose Pharmacy Gaizano last Friday, celebrating the end of their on-the-job training.  I haven't imagined seeing them gone this far in their pharmacy course for they were once this noisy bunch of sassy girls whom I got to scold from time to time in their boisterous wake.  I am so glad to see them pursuing their course with much gusto and this will definitely pave their way to greater success! :)
Now as another school year is about to start, I'm looking forward into meeting my upcoming freshmen students.  Surely, I can be more mad, more annoyed, and more exasperated with these students but time will also come that I would be happy seeing them in their success.  As a mentor, every student's success is what I look after for.  I hope that I am not that too harsh on them so they would be able to still remember me wherever they will be at in the near future.  I hope that they will remember not the monster Miss Mae but the sweet Miss Mae as what I am working on! :)
