Miss Medina 2014

I know, I know.  It's a bit late for this post and I'm sorry for posting this late.  I was just busy with school stuffs since I'm back into being a school girl, y'know.  But it's better late than never, right?  So here's my entry as I looked back into where I came from - Medina College!

With College of Pharmacy DeanMrs. Caroline Balberan, RPh
Without MUHS' knowledge, I was working as a part-time Chemistry instructor under Ma'am Line for three school years!  Lagare lang ang peg!  Chinese School by daytime and Medina College by nighttime.  On weekends, it were always labbing time with my Pharma studes for our straight and loooong laboratory hours!

With the Pharma Beauts
From left to right:  Sha-Sha Saren (Miss Medina 2013 4th Runner-Up), Joebelle Balbona (Miss Medina 2014 1st Runner-Up), and Sigrid Cubillan (Miss Medina 2013 2nd Runner-Up).  These girls just prove that Pharma students are not just good-looking but are also witty and gutsy!

With Miss Athletic Icon 2014, Sheen Dela Rosa
And this is my Sheenie!!!!!  Sheen was among my "darling second years" in Chinese School.  It always amazes me to see how my Chiskul kids grow up so fast!  Just look at her!  Sheen has grown up to be a beautiful young lady who has kept with her a humble and generous heart.

With Miss Medina 2014, French Kate Hammermüller
One look at her, you'll get intimidated by the ethereal beauty she possesses.  One look at her, you'll say that she's just another pretty face.  But once you'll get to know her, all your first impressions are nothing but a total mistake!  Well, having Kate in my class proved that.  She's a brilliant student who can reap out all line of 9's!  Though she's busy with her modeling career, she still takes time studying.  Being someone as famous as her, she can ditch school but she never does that.  School is always her first priority that surprised me.  Additionally, she's also a loving daughter.  She takes good care of her mom so much and everything that she said during the Q and A portion were true.  I can attest that by the way she talks about her mom when she was still under me.  Though I only had one semester with her, I could say that I know her 'coz she's transparent and never a pretender.

With the Other Pharma Studes and Another Chinese Schooler
Seeing these kids (except for Paw2x who is now a Lasallian) after sometime makes my heart super glad!  I really missed them!  They were not only students to me but they were also my barkada.  Remember the birthday bash that they threw me two years ago?  They are just the sweetest!

With Joemari, Marvel, and Laling
And what's a celebrity without the entourage?  Hehe!  Thank you, guys for accompanying me!!! :)

Lastly, thanks to my sponsors - Ep2x for the dress and Kring2x for the necklace!  And credits to Marvel for my hair and make-up as well as to Laling for taking all the photos!  You, guys are just the sweetest support group! <3

Whimsical Wednesday: Hello, World!

Whimsical Wednesday shows my fancy in a myriad of beautiful things.

Hello, world!
I've been waiting for a different kind of place
Oh, hello world!
I've been searching for a different kind of ......

Now, I'm flying into the sky
And I'm ...........
'Coz I'm leaving
I don't know where I'm gonna land

This is only a fraction from my memory of the lyrics of my favorite travel show's theme song way back in high school.  I can still even carry out the tune though I haven't heard of it since forever!  I tried to google the whole song but there's no search results.  So I guess, it must've been ancient.  I'm also in doubt if the show was Lonely Planet but  I'm 99% sure it was.  But anyway, then was only a dream to travel the world.  Then was only an imagination to go out there.  And as I think about it tonight, I've come to realize that all good things take time so that when you get it, you appreciate it all the more and know its worth!

Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Macau
Where to next?

Oooops!  I remember the show.  It was THE TRAVELERS!!!!!!

Manic Monday Recreated

Monday - the beginning of the week for school and work (Urban Dictionary)

Manic - having or relating to mental illness that causes someone to become very excited or emotional (Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

Manic Monday - a very stressful day to start a week! (Then)
Manic Monday - a very relaxing day which replaced my Sundays.... (Now)

With all the crazy work load I have (weekday regular classes, weekend masteral classes, store duties, etc.), I'm still glad God vacated my Monday afternoons for relaxation!  It's just that today, I had over-relaxed to give time reconnecting with different sets of friends!  Here's how my aftie was:

Lunch at Big J Grill House With MM and Atsi Ann
Dessert at Cafe Eduardo
After my 6 PM - 7 PM class, I thought my day would end but Cherry Ann called up for a Tuslob Buwa experience!

With Cherry Ann, Ann Lorien, Princess, and Queenie
Ishi and Shania Writing and Posting Their Experience
To wrap up the day, a cup of tea is best all the way!  So back to my favorite couch at Cafe Eduardo! :)

This time, with Carl Antoni "DJ Carlo"
See, a manic Monday cannot be that manic at all!  If you hate Mondays, find ways to recreate 'em.  Though we're gonna be early for school and work tomorrow, it still pays to give in to late nights with friends and tea!  Oh, we're already maturing!!!!  Haha!  'Till next time, guys! :)

Feature Friday: Tuslob Buwa at The BBQ Station

Feature Friday highlights businesses, people, fashion, and basically anything under the sun!

Tuslob buwa is a colloquial term for food dipping. It originates in Cebu City where it literally means "to dip in bubbles". In the streets of Carbon and Pasil, vendors offer tuslob buwa for free to passers-by and all they have to pay is the puso or hanging rice which costs for only P3 each. Market workers and laborers just drop by to any tuslob buwa nook around the market to ease their hunger for the day.  Now you might be wondering what's in this tuslob buwa?

Tuslob buwa is a concoction of sautéed pig brain, shrimp paste, spices, and broth.  Out from the simmering wok, eaters dip their puso into it thus taking the word buwa.  It's too far from being a viand but to the masses, it's already a complete meal that could get them through.

But out of curiosity, other people also want to try this boy-scout-kind-of-eating-thingy apart from boodle fighting.  Sanitation-wise, it's unwise to eat at tuslob buwa nooks in Carbon.  Just imagine the plenty of hands dipping into the wok.  Just imagine the puso from a person's mouth to be dipped again into the wok. Tuslob buwa indeed is just for those with rigid stomachs.

However, it's a great thing there are carenderias and even restaurants that are now adapting the culture of tuslob buwa.  They are now offering tuslob buwa so we can also experience the fun dining that comes with it!  This time, we need not worry about sanitation for the wok is inclusive for our group only.  Additionally, you'll also get to enjoy cooking your own tuslob buwa version by yourself.

And another great thing, tuslob buwa is now here in Ozamiz!  Thanks to The BBQ Station for bringing this exotic Cebuano street food to our city!  Now let me share to you how to cook your tuslob buwa version.

Sauté onions.

Add in the liver.

Pour the broth.

Add the shrimp paste.

Season with soy sauce, pepper, and secret seasoning.

Dip the puso and start eating!

There you have a quick and easy tuslob buwa tutorial.  It's not a very hard thing to do so anyone can just do the honor in cooking it though he/she cannot actually cook.  Group work cooking is more fun with this like you just have to take turn in doing the first step then next and next.

It's not just fun cooking and dining at The BBQ Station but it is also affordable.  One set of tuslob buwa costs only P99!

Now, what are you waiting for?  Tag along your family and friends for this unique fun dining experience!  Visit The BBQ Station along Port Road, Ozamiz City and taste a Cebuano delicacy in an Ozamiz way!

Lusting Over Valentinos

"Shopping for labels, shopping for love
Manolo and Louis, it's all I'm thinking of
Shopping for labels, shopping for love
1, 2
Manolo and Louis, it's all I'm thinking of
1, 2, 3 Turn the lights on!"
- Lyrics from Labels or Love by Fergie for Sex and the City, 2008

Girls just get so high on shoes!  Putting on high heels can make us look taller, thinner, and sexier.  It suddenly gives us confidence and enables us to walk through the limelight.  Just looking at them chases the blues away.

These Valentino Rockstud Collection is the latest craze for women all over the world!  It epitomizes the essence of a woman - soft yet tough inside.  Pointy shoes having ladylike style toughened with pyramid studs for that edgy look.  They are just to die for!!!!!  Now, which Valentino is for you?

Girly, conservative, pretty - this Pink Valentino claims youth and innocence.  This is a perfect fit for Charlotte York, a prim and proper woman who prefers love over lust.  She's the type who believes in magic and has faith in destiny.  Oh, she just sees the world as a wish-granting factory!

Formal, elegant, sophisticated - this Black Valentino demurely keeps still but carries out a statement.  This is just like Miranda Hobbes, a career-driven woman who works hard not just for a living but also for self-fulfillment.  She doesn't react to matters instantly but weigh things out first before giving her opinion which makes her into a good lawyer.

Feisty, gutsy, vixenish - this Red Valentino boldly shouts power!  This one's right for Samantha Jones, a proud and sexually confident woman who speaks her mind about her "uncensored" wisdom on sex.  She's always in control of everything, the reason why she never believes in marriage.

Versatile, nude, neutral - this Beige Valentino exclaims open-mindedness!  Now this is definitely for Carrie Bradshaw, a high-spirited woman who takes both sides of the coin.  As a writer, her opinions opened the minds of women to some radical issues on life, love, and sex.  With this, she's regarded as an icon!

So, what type of shoe are you?  What type of woman are you?  For you are what you wear!

"Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world."
- Marilyn Monroe
