Shooters and Margarita at Lifestyle District
Why is it that broken people turn to alcohol for comfort? Is it to lose one's mind? Is it to forget? Or is it to lose one's self? With that, I spent one Saturday night at CDO to escape. Escape from the pain, escape from reality, escape from myself. So Jay and Ruth took me to CDO's latest and hottest rendezvous, Lifestyle District.
It was my first time to have flaming shooters! Jay was really supportive for Ruth and I to try it and even volunteered to take our photos and video.
After six shots, we wanted more booze but only got the light ones instead. So we had margarita to feel like Sex and the City girls. Hehe.
I surely enjoy the kick of alcohol every time it gets me tipsy. But only tipsy and not wasted. I never wanna get wasted again after the last time I had in 2011 when the very same guy first shook my life!
Thanks for entertaining me, Jay and Ruth! 'Till our next Saturday night out! Let's do try the shisha smoke! Hehe.....
Have fun in CDO at Lifestyle District located at Corrales Extension, Cagayan de Oro City!

Redtail Shrimps and More
To nurse a broken heart is to eat. To eat is to find the best food. To find is to go to a far-flung place. And to go is to have the cure. Haha! Does that even make sense? I'm sorry for this late post but I shouldn't miss featuring this seafood resto in Cagayan de Oro City - Redtail Shrimps and More!
I love the sailor-theme interior of Redtail. It feels like being in a luxurious cruise but you don't have to act in luxury because you can just be yourself, eating their scrumptious catch with your bare hands. Just like Bucket Shrimps in Cebu, Redtail's shrimps are served in a variety of sauces namely Redtail Style, Garlic Butter, and Coco Loco. I'm a gata-loving person so I love the Coco Loco so much. But for those whose stomachs get easily upset with coconut milk, the Redtail Style is yours to have. It has a unique blend of sweetness, saltyness, and spicyness with a sort-of-Mexican taste. Aside from the shrimps, they also have crabs, mussels, pork, and chicken which makes the resto a friend to all especially to those who are allergic to shrimps and crabs.

Getting down with your hands dirty makes your Redtail experience a whole lot of fun! What more with good friends to share the experience with? You'll surely enjoy eating more, not just to fill your stomach but also to fill your heart with love. Thank you so much to Ruth for treating us to lunch! And thank you to the Mandal family for the bonding with your lovely kiddos!
I may not had an instant cure from this trip to CDO last second weekend of this year, but I'm glad I came. For what is more important is the quality time I had spent with my friends and their family. Support system, eh? I've got a whole bunch of army!
Visit Redtail Shrimps and More either in their two branches at Papa Juanito's Square (Limketkai Drive) or Don Apolinar Velez St. (across Sentro 1850), Cagayan de Oro City!

My Little Blogging's Sweet Fruit
OMG!!!!! Got an email from looloo iNSIGHTS informing me that they had featured my photo on Bucket Shrimps! Like, over OMG! I was overly kilig upon reading their mail! Wow! My little blogging had again paid off. This is another sweet fruit of pursuing a little life here in the blogosphere. Though I'm too far from my idols, Patty Laurel and Laureen Uy, still I'm having a tiny space in here! This inspires me to write more, to shoot more, to feature more, and to serve more. I know my time to shine will come that I'd be discovered and be given a break. Hehehe.
Anyway, I'm also happy informing people on honest reviews of events and places I've been to. I'm always glad to answer emails on queries from random people regarding some people I know and the places I had featured here and abroad. It is always my pleasure to give them information as long as I have. And I'm delighted for them to have trusted me so a big thank you for that, my dear blog readers! :) Thank you, thank you for keeping up with me! Though at times I have nega write-ups here regarding my travails in love life (just like yesterday), still you are reading me and being patient with me. Hehe. Just by having all of you, I feel so loved!

Sinulog 2015 Day 5
And the time has come to end another story. My Sinulog 2015 experience was ended another experience of a lifetime! As I'm doing with other Sinulogs, I made differences in every year. But what I've realized this year is that, sad to say, the essence of Sinulog has been lost. Yes, the basilica is still packed with pilgrims. Yes, the procession still gets longer each year. Yes, thousands of people still flock to Cebu for Sto. Niño. However, these only became a "side" trip. For what I generally saw was the mardi gras and the street parties were what people really came for. As my student joked, "Ma'am, dili na panata sa Sto. Niño. Panata na sa party." That is absolutely true as what I've witnessed. Even I myself went to Sinulog this year for "other" purposes.
So with that, I went home frustrated for a purpose not being materialized. I've traveled far and long by land, by air, and by sea! Move, move, move. I always move but I have the inability to MOVE ON. This is how ironic my life is! Though moving, I'm also delayed. Delayed with what I should be by now. Delayed with the goals I had to attain. Delayed with the dreams that I want to fulfill. Delayed from my peers. Delayed with time. And shit that fuckin' time! Just DELAYED! Like my flight, it got delayed.
And what did I do at the airport? Just waited. Before, "wait" was just a big word for me. I had all the patience in the world to WAIT! But now, I will really try not to be patient anymore. I will change from being good into being bad. For I've been really, really good and nice but what I only got was a whole lot of pain. I don't deserve this pain! Never never deserve this! So I must be bad because bad girls always get the good boys!
A smile as sweet as candy? That's a smile hiding all the heartache. I may look OK but deep inside, too much discouragement is gnawing my heart. Pain is eating me up. Anger to the world is dwelling inside. Bitterness! Just bitter with this travail I'm in.

Sinulog 2015 Day 4: The Main Event
The moment that we've been waiting for has finally arrived - the big day of Sinulog 2015! This year I made a difference. I didn't witness the street dancing but hanged out with Cherry Ann's friends instead. We went to her friend's birthday party at Red Hours in Guadalupe, walked to the Capitol area, and spent the afternoon at Bordz in Maria Cristina. At first, I only observed the people. They were still sane so we started painting ourselves so we won't get painted. For this day, I was wearing my Islands Souvenirs Cut and Style Sinulog shirt to look festive because I do believe that whenever you're in a festivity, do look festive too!
After a few drinks, people started to get frisky. They painted the passers by, they danced, sang, and goofed around that they even painted everybody from the group.
Then Cherry Ann and I left because I wanted to be with Circa 99 to enjoy the rest of the day. While walking to Fooda, we struggled in finding our way because the crowd was just sooooo wild! People were just crazier than crazy! They painted and showered everybody with booze. Teens nowadays are just so different from what we were before. Even high school students were already wasted especially the girls as early as 4 PM! I was shocked at first but just went into the mob just to get through.
However, that's how the crowd looked like that we were not able to pass through Sinulog Invasion 2015 anymore where Team Gusla was partying. So Cherry Ann and I decided to escape the wild and walked to Ayala for dinner. Even Ayala was packed with people. It was a great thing that Maple had vacant tables for hungry diners like us. I thought it was a breakfast only resto but it's just like Early Bird Breakfast Club where breakfast is being served anytime of the day. But aside from the brekky essentials, Maple also had pasta and steaks and these were what we had. Honestly, I didn't really like their rib-eye steak. It's not as tender as my lola's beef steak. Hehe. But I enjoyed the pasta and the compliment pastry anyway.
Then it was time for the grand fireworks display and we were lucky enough to witness it as we got out from the mall and saw Marvel and friends by the entrance.
After the fireworks, I knew Cherry Ann wanted to go home but I didn't have the feel and fill of Sinulog yet. So me, Marvel, and friends made a deal to walk her home and proceed to Mango right after. Then my Sinulog 2015 finally kicked off!
At Mango, the crowd was the craziest!!!!! Teenage girls dressed like having only bra and panties. People danced like having orgy and flirted as if there's no tomorrow! Wherever you look, people were drunk! So to join the hype, we had a bottle of tequila for the four of us to share.
Then alcohol kicked in and started us to party party! We instantly became friends with other friends and danced like crazy! We again showered with paint, booze, and sweat as we joined the mob in their crazy act. But we didn't join the orgy dancing. It just sucked for me, you know. Haha! Boy-boy and girl-girl were kissing left and right. Like, gah! This is indeed the new generation! It even sucked more because I never experienced all this flirting mode ever since my world began! I should've done this when I was younger. I should've lived my life even before so I won't be regretting this way. I'm 32 yet still wants to go back to teenage days and just have a life. That's fuckin' bullshit, right? Haha!
So I danced it all and shouted it all with tequila! Then I told myself to leave the past all behind!
So, have I? That is the question!

Sinulog 2015 Day 3
This day is the day for some of my Griffins! Last year when my anak Lowell wanted to celebrate Sinulog with the gang, I didn't show up 'coz of my hectic sched. But now, I blocked out my Saturday afternoon just for my loves! Though they were only a few, we still had fun hanging out at Red Mango where Kathy (Anwyl's gf) had this little game with the necklace that would "determine" how many kids would you have in the future. Unfortunately for me, the necklace didn't move which means that I'm not gonna have kids. Is that another confirmation that I'm really gonna live this life solo?! 'Coz every time a palm reader sees my palm, they always say that I'm not gonna get married! Like, the fuck! Well anyway, I had fun with my Griffins (as always)! Just goofing around with them makes me forget whatever I am going through right now. They're like air to breath!
But my bonding moment with my loves had a time out for me to see Cherry Ann's Doug at Tonkatsu. Unfortunately, I was already too late. He already left when I arrived and what was left for me was only their photo together.
Since the night is still young, we squeezed in a little time (after shopping for cheap outfit for etc PAINTensity) to barge into the honeymoon of Deo and Alvite at Flame It! We only had a quick talk for they had to go home and change for PAINTensity (but I forgot my deal with them to see them again 'coz I left my phone in my bag and gave it to Sandy because I wanted to get hit during the party). Super sorry, Deo and Vity. Hehe.
Then off we went to the night's main event, etc PAINTensity!!!!! And there's no other company to enjoy the night than with Circa 99! Team Gusla (Circa 99 with our adopteds) really knows how to partey!!!!! Much more when MC Carlo Lasiste and DJ Ace Ramos reigned the stage by midnight. The crowd went wild because these two just rock! Still can remember who said this line, "I'm so drunk!"? Well, that's just the way it is. Hahaha!!!
And I was more than happy to had shot two birds in one stone! My Griffins were also there which made me enjoyed all the more! We were literally wet by 2 AM! Wet with paint, water from the fire truck, sweat, and booze! So that's how my night ended. I wanted to stay but Cherry Ann and Sandy wanted to go home already so I just went home with them too. Generation gap, eh? Hehe. Peace, chogs.
Stay tuned tomorrow for Sinulog's actual big day! :)

Sinulog 2015 Day 2
My plan for my second day in Cebu is to go to Colon-Carbon district to place my order of balloons and party needs for my shop. I had to do that first so I couldn't touch the Fascino money for my personal consumption. But Cherry Ann didn't know the jeepney route to Colon from her apartment so she brought us with her to SM (where she has her clinic) because jeepney routes are complete there. As we entered Northwing, a very big surprise awaited me!
Let's first rewind the day before. While I was queuing for my Islands Souvenirs Cut and Style Sinulog shirt, I admired (as I always do) Liz's and Laureen's blown up window photo stickers so much. Then I secretly wished to myself a photo with them having me at the center. I didn't tell anybody how fanatic I am for Liz and especially Laureen. I didn't tell anybody of my wishful thinking and then it happened! Right in front of me were Liz and Laureen without any other people clamoring for them. They were right there and there was me without any competition so I approached them and asked for a pose. Liz said that she was already going and to make it quick. I said, "Yes, quick but with Laureen." Then Laureen walked to us and right then and there, the wished-for pose came into reality! I was super dooper happy, giddy, and so kilig with the both of them by my side! They were so gracious to give me some time and I even had the chance to tell them that I do really follow them. The feeling was so outrageous! With too much fangirling with them, I told myself that my Sinulog is already complete and I'm ready to go back to Ozamiz. Hehe. Now here are the photos with my sistahs! They say that we're kinda like triplets! (big grin)
With Top Celebrity Stylist, Liz Uy and Top Fashion Blogger, Laureen Uy |
After the meet and greet with the Uy sisters, I brought Marvel to Basilica Minore del Santo Niño de Cebu for him to pay homage. While being there, I also paid homage for me to say thank you to Sto. Niño for keeping me healthy up to this day. I also lighted candles and had the manang who sells them help me pray for good health still and a partner in life. I hope this time, my prayers will get answered. Anyway, I also did the lighting for my friend, MM.
My suki wholesale shop is just a walk away from the basilica so we conveniently arrived there for only a few minutes. We didn't take that long to place my orders and just had the shop to arrange everything including the shipping. So Marvel and I went to Labangon to visit my aunt. By late afternoon, Cherry Ann texted us for our dental appointment with her.
Dr. Cherry Ann Tuba had been running MetroDental Cebu for quite sometime now. MetroDental is the country's leading dental chain having world-class and state-of-the-art facilities. The moment you step into MetroDental, you'll surely feel that you're entering into a very classy hotel-like space. It is more than a dental clinic! What more with their staff. They're all smiles and so accommodating. Their dentists are all trained internationally and are up beat with the latest dental care technology. Just like my chog Cherry. She's just the best dentist I ever have! Hehehe. Pasipsip lang ang peg, chog? Thank you for the cleaning and pasta! :) I could still remember the first time you cleaned my teeth and gave me my first pasta in our kitchen when we were still in college as your practice. Now look at you. A competitive dentist who is so professional in dealing with patients. More power to you, chog and soar higher!
Visit MetroDental here for more information! |
Then our new friend, Ricky picked us up for another dinner. This time, we braved the busy streets of Cebu to hail a cab to IT Park for a taste of Ilaputi's bibimbap. And I didn't get frustrated. The bibimbap was just love! The mix of rice, meat, veggies, and seasoning was so perfect and the serving was also ample to be shared with the group. Aside from bibimbap, we also had beef stroganoff, mexican chicken, and Cherry Ann's favorite potato wedges. We were so full when we got out from the resto and had a stroll around IT Park. We visited shops and just felt the cold air whipping our hair while walking.
After IT Park, we dressed up for a party at LIV Super Club! Cherry Ann was invited for her friend's birthday and we tagged along. The club was filled with socialites! As a high-end club, I really felt out of place. I haven't been Jayceeing for a while now and I felt a bit of adjustment with the place. Gladly, we spotted other Ozamiznons which somehow made me felt at home. Laughters and cheers with Gino always make us smile. However, the night ended without too much fun for me. I was just like, intimidated with the place and that's it. But we were so pretty though! Hehe.
Stay tuned for my third day in Cebu tomorrow! :)

Sinulog 2015 Day 1
My every year starts with booking tickets for Sinulog. I do it every first Saturday of the year and this year, I was shocked! I thought I'm always being early but ships to Cebu were already fully booked as early as December. Why did Sinulog instantly become a hot iron to strike? I've been going to Sinulog since I was a child and this was my first time to encounter such trouble over finding tickets to Cebu. Luckily, my colleague found cheap plane tickets via Laguindingan. However, the dates were totally outskirts from the actual Sinulog day. I had to leave my classes and stay in Cebu for five whole days which I thought was a total sacrifice albeit the land and sea trip to Laguindingan. But I did! I did went to Cebu by hook or by crook! Too much effort lang ang peg ni Dora the Explorer! So now, this was the first day of my Sinulog 2015!
With Sir Jezreel and Sir Marvel at Laguindingan International Airport |
We were welcomed by my high school classmate/college roommate/Cebu buddy, Hermesa at the airport. After ages of not seeing her, we got so excited! We got to talk a lot of things while ignoring the other two at the backseat. Hehe.....
Then she treated us lunch at Ayala Terraces' Pepper Lunch! The food was great but it's not suited for people who are already hungry. The hot plate was so hot that even after 15 minutes or so, the food is still smokingly hot. And I'm not talking of the spicyness here (I can tolerate that). It's the literal hotness of the food that delays you into savoring it.
After a very brief time, Mimi had to leave for work so i queued up for my Islands Souvenirs Cut and Style Sinulog shirt while waiting for Cherry Ann.
When Cherry Ann arrived, we had light snacks at KFC because we still don't have KFC here in Ozamiz.
Then we roamed around Ayala and met Cherry Ann's friends, Ricky and Jet for dinner at Ulli's Streets of Asia. Everything Asian is in the menu which made me miss Singapore for its delicious Hokkien mee that I had helpfuls of serving. However, the Yakitori-Style Barbeque was a bit salty for my taste considering that I'm the salty type of person.
To cap the night off, we proceeded to Whatever KTV Bar to hear the voice of Ricky (the Giant, a once famous DJ here in Ozamiz. Hehe). Indeed, his voice was effin' good that he grabbed all the 100% scores of the videoke machine. After a few drinks, we went straight home to recharge for the next day of my Sinulog 2015, the longest Sinulog I've ever had!

#DeVite2k15: The Bridal Shower
One down, three to go! From fun photo shoots to wedding pictorial. Here's only a sneak peek of Deo and Alvite's wedding!
While waiting for the photos from the official photographer, allow me to give you Alvite's bridal shower first.
Bridal shower is a party given to the bride-to-be by friends as a bye-bye to single life and all its perks. With that, we had a bridal shower for Alvite last Friday at Novotel. Because we're simple girls with simple wants, ours was just simple but with a heart. So here's what we did last Friday night!
To our dear friend Alvite, all the bestest wishes!!!!! We pray for a happy marriage for the both of you. Take care of each other and cherish each other. You are so lucky to have had found each other so keep loving and no fighting. Hope to have inaanaks with you already! Stay pretty and sexy as this though you had birthed kids in the upcoming years. God bless the both of you and the home that you're gonna build together! We love you, Deo and Alvite! :)
